Concurrent Degrees

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health offers seven concurrent degree programs and three articulated degree programs. These programs provide excellent opportunities for people with a wide range of interests, diverse education and multiple talents to gain expertise in both public health and another discipline.

Students can complete their degrees in a shorter period of time by allowing for some overlapping and shared requirements. 

Public Health MPH/African Studies MA

The School of Public Health and the African Studies Program have a concurrent degree program whereby students can pursue the MA degree in African Studies and the MPH with a specialization in Community Health Sciences at the same time. Applicants are required to satisfy the admission requirements of both programsm and students must meet the requirements in both programs to be awarded the degrees.

Public Health MPH/Urban Regional Planning MURP

The Department of Community Health Sciences and Environmental Health Sciences in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and the Department of Urban Planning offer a concurrent degree program whereby students can work for the MURP in Urban Planning and the MPH.

Public Health MPH/Social Welfare MSW

The Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Community Health Sciences offer a concurrent program whereby students pursue the Master of Social Welfare and the Master of Public Health at the same time. Applicants are required to satisfy the regular admission requirements of each program. Students in the three-year concurrent program complete their first year curriculum in either Social Welfare or Public Health.

Public Health MPH/Public Policy MPP

The Department of Health Policy and Management in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and the Department of Public Policy in the School of Public Affairs offer a concurrent degree program whereby students can work for the MPP in Public Policy and the MPH. Students must complete the program requirements for both degrees.

Public Health MPH/Management MBA

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and the Anderson Graduate School of Management offer a three year concurrent degree program. Applicants interested in the joint MPH/MBA program in the Health Policy and Management Department may take either the GRE or GMAT. Applicants interested in this concurrent program should contact the Anderson School and the Student Affairs Officer in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.

Public Health MPH/Law JD

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and the School of Law offer a four year concurrent degree program. The program includes three years in the Law School and one year in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Applicants interested in this concurrent program must apply separately to the Law School and the School of Public Health.

Public Health MPH/Asian American Studies MA

The Asian American Studies Program and the Department of Community Health Sciences in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health offer a concurrent degree program whereby students can work for the MA in Asian American Studies and the MPH. Students must complete the program requirements for both degrees.
