UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding Mentorship Program
Our goal is to create an extended UCLA Fielding School of Public Health family where older graduates coach and nurture the careers of more recent graduates. Mentors are not expected to offer internships or jobs—just information and advice. The conversations can occur by phone, online or in person. To find a UCLA Fielding School of Public Health mentee or mentor, join BruinWorks.

These are some questions you can expect your mentees to ask:
1.    What kind of skills should I be developing that might help me in my career?
2.    How did you get started in your field?
3.    How did you get your foot in the door at your current company?
4.    What advice do you have about developing a resume? Would you mind reviewing mine?
5.    How does your current position relate to your UCLA FSPH degree?
6.    In light of my current career choices, what should I consider as I decide?

These are questions you can ask as you mentor others:
1.    What is it that you really want to be and do?
2.    What are you doing really well that is helping you get there?
3.    What are you not doing well that is preventing you from getting there?
4.    What will you do differently tomorrow to meet those challenges?
5.    How can I help / where do you need the most help?
