Dr. Jo Kay Ghosh is a graduate of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and currently serves as the Health Effects Officer at the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). The SCAQMD has been a long-time leader in air pollution science and policy, and one of the top priorities has been to improve air quality in communities with disproportionate air pollution and socioeconomic burdens. Assembly Bill (AB) 617, signed into law in 2017, provides an opportunity to conduct community-level air monitoring and implement air pollution action plans to bring cleaner air to highly impacted communities. Dr. Ghosh will describe her work in environmental justice with SCAQMD and upcoming work through AB 617 Community Air Initiatives.
