The Fielding School of Public Health Employer Showcase is designed to introduce MS, MPH, PhD, DrPH students, recent alumni, and postdoctoral scholars in Community Health Sciences, Health Policy and Management, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Environmental Health Sciences to an exclusive selection of public health employers in diverse practice areas.  The model of this event follows a mini career fair structure with each employer having their own table with multiple representatives and alumni from diverse units in their organization attending to share internship, job and fellowship opportun

This workshop will provide Public Health students with the opportunity to prepare and practice networking skills for the Fielding School of Public Health Employer Showcase, which will be held on Wed., Nov. 7, 2018 from 6-8:30pm at the James West Alumni Center (JWAC). Gain confidence in your networking skills and learn how to make a memorable first impression when connecting with employers from diverse public health practice areas.

LA County Department of Public Health Acute Communicable Disease Control Program: Outbreak Response Team Recruitment Session

Roshan Reporter and Marifi Pulido from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Acute Communicable Disease will discuss opportunities for students to gain experience conducting outbreak investigations at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Acute Communicable Disease (http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/acd). This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical field experience at the second largest public health program in the nation!

In this interactive workshop, students will apply the foundations of an effective resume learned in the workshop, "Unleashing Your Strengths…in your Resume"

The session will focus on:

  • Identifying areas of strength and improvement for ones' resume
  • Giving and receiving useful feedback with peers
  • Writing strong accomplishment statements that highlight skills and strengths targeted to the job or industry

Unleash Your Strengths...in your Cover Letter

In this interactive workshop, learn effective writing strategies for crafting a persuasive cover letter that effectively articulates your fit for a position and can lead to interviews. We will discuss proper formatting and structure of an effective cover letter and strategies for targeting your own cover letter to public health positions.

It is important that you bring 2 copies of your cover letter (a rough draft is fine) to participate in this workshop.
