About the Speaker:

Dr. Rachael Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine in the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah, where she directs the Industrial Hygiene Program and the Utah Center for Promotion of Work Equity Research, a NIOSH Center of Excellence for Total Worker Health. Dr. Jones also serves as Chief Editor of the Annals of Work Exposures and Health. Dr. Jones earned her MPH and PhD degrees in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley and completed post-doctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. Dr. Jones conducts research in a variety of aspects of occupational health and industrial hygiene, but has had a long-term focus on the assessment and prevention of occupationally-acquired infections, particularly among healthcare workers.

About the Job Talk Lecture:

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the risk of occupationally-acquired infections among health care personnel, but this risk also arises from endemic infectious diseases. In this talk, Dr. Jones will describe what we know about the extent of this occupational health burden, strategies for prevention and anticipated occupational health regulations.
