Volunteer at the Jane B Semel HCI Community Garden and engage in a conversation with a master gardener about urban gardening practices. Get your hands dirty and help with garden maintenance, followed by lunch (provided by PHSA and CHSSA)!
As a transdisciplinary hands-on learning space at UCLA, the Jane B Semel Healthy Campus Initiative Community Garden builds community, and promotes personal and planetary health with a goal of supporting equity and food justice. It's located in the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center off Sunset Blvd (111 Easton Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90024). We will be assisting with various gardening tasks for 3 hours, so get ready to get your hands dirty!
Volunteering from 9am-12pm will be followed by lunch provided by PHSA and CHSSA and an educational talk by one of the HCI garden staff from 12pm-1pm.
This event will be capped at about 30 students. Please bring your Bruin ID and completed symptom survey. Also be sure to bring your own reusable water bottle.
Lastly, please email email@example.com if you need ADA accommodations, as there are some parts of the Sunset Recreation Center that may be difficult to access, or if you are gluten-free, so we can get you a separate lunch.
