This event is a collaboration with colleagues from across the county to present promising academic research, entrepreneurial faculty investigators, as well as local start- up companies. It is intended to promote awareness of the growing life science entrepreneurial ecosystem in Los Angeles and to foster partnerships with the biotechnology and life science industry.

Dr. Anne Rimoin, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of epidemiology and director of the Fielding School's UCLA Center for Global and Immigrant Health will present the keynote for the third day of LABEST at 11 AM PST on Thursday, May 27. Her address - “COVID-19 and Beyond: Preventing the Next Pandemic Before it Starts” - will be presented from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW:

LABEST will be entirely virtual this year! The conference will take place over 3 days and features:

  • All Day Exhibit Booths
  • Panels and Presentations between 11AM - 2:30PM (including Professor Spotlights)

The conference will include additional presentations from UCLA faculty, including Dr. Andre Nel, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of environmental health sciences, who will present:

  • “Significance of Nano-enabled Therapeutics Efforts” from 2:20 pm – to 3:00 pm, Wednesday, May 26; Dr. Nel will also participate in a roundtable discussion after his presentation.

UCLA TDG is currently accepting submissions for the Pearl Cohen Poster Award Competition ($250 - $750 cash prizes) which is a unique opportunity to showcase your bioscience research programs in front of pharma and biotech industry leaders. All accepted submissions will be displayed during digital “Poster Plaza Session”, arranged by therapeutic area, with three presentation timeslots (complimentary admission included for the lead author).  Award winners will be announced during the event. See Details
