received the Long-Term Excellence Award from the Health Policy Statistics Section of the American Statistical Association and delivered the Lowell Reed Lectureship for the Applied Public Health Statistics Section of the American Public Health Association.
received the 2019 George W. Snedecor Award from the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies.
received the 2019 Academic Council Chairs Award for Mid-Career Leadership in the Academic Senate from the UCLA Systemwide Academic Senate.

received the National Academy of Medicine Rhoda and Bernard Sarnat International Prize in Mental Health and the Psychiatric Education and Research Foundation’s Advocate Award.
received the 2018 Aging & Public Health Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Public Health Association and the inaugural Mario Gutierrez Award on Migrant Health from the Health Initiative of the Americas.
was named the 2018 Faculty Member of the Year by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, and was appointed to the peer review committee for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
was named among the world’s most influential scientific researchers in 2018 by Clarivate Analytics, based on most citations between 2006 and 2016.
