Does income inequality have a differential effect on types of health services? Does a community's social capital mitigate the potential health penalties of structural inequalities? These are some of the questions Dr. Ninez Ponce will address in this webinar examining social determinants and health. Dr. Ponce, who helped develop the first California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), will examine the effects of income inequality, racial/ethnic composition, and residential segregation on health care to determine whether these social processes lead to structural inequities and undermine the productivity or distribution of medical care, and ultimately erode population health.

Continuing the Conversation webinars feature UCLA Fielding School of Public Health faculty discussing the most critical issues in public health.
