KPCC-FM interviewed Ninez Ponce, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of health policy and management and director of the Fielding School’s UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, about the new health equity metric being implemented to target and aid LA County’s most at-risk communities, including Black, Latino, and Pacific-Islander groups.
ECONOMIC EQUITY AND PAVING A PATH FORWARD
Starting Tuesday, counties across the state will have to meet a new “equity metric” before advancing to the next phase in the state’s four-tiered “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.” The measure requires positivity rates in communities hit hardest by the coronavirus do not fall behind the county’s overall rate.
