"Public health is a trans-disciplinary field; it's not just a field comprised of doctors and nurses, but social workers, engineers, elementary school teachers, policy makers, community leaders, and all the rest of you, members of the public," Gee said. "The reason for this diversity is the need for all of these perspectives to address the really complicated problems facing us, so the COVID pandemic has really put a magnifying glass and spotlight on preexisting inequities that have just really bubbled up and become more common knowledge, but have always been there. It’s not simply an issue of a virus."
