CNN interviewed Dr. Anne Rimoin, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of epidemiology and the Gordon-Levin Endowed Chair in Infectious Diseases and Public Health, for a lengthy segment about the threats posed by COVID-19, monkeypox, Marburg, and other zoonotic infections.
”We’re living in a time of increased travel, increased trade, increased population mobility, increase population, and also climate change, which is really changing both the epidemiologic and ecologic landscape … all of these things make it a perfect storm for viruses to spread,” Rimoin said. “As I’ve said before, an infection anywhere can be an infection everywhere.”
