Los Angeles (May 6, 2016) – Recognizing his decades of health care leadership, the Health Policy and Management Alumni Association (HPMAA) of UCLA’s Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health has selected Paul S. Viviano, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), as its 2016 Leader of Today Honoree.
Children's Hospital Los Angeles has been named the best children’s hospital in California and among the top 10 in the nation for clinical excellence with its selection to the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll. Children’s Hospital is home to The Saban Research Institute, one of the largest and most productive pediatric research facilities in the United States. Children’s Hospital is also one of America's premier teaching hospitals through its affiliation since 1932 with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
The mission of the UCLA HPMAA is to establish and maintain a strong bond between the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management and its graduates, through service and program offerings, and to support, financially and otherwise, the students, faculty and alumni.
The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, founded in 1961, is dedicated to enhancing the public's health by conducting innovative research, training future leaders and health professionals from diverse backgrounds, translating research into policy and practice, and serving our local communities and the communities of the nation and the world. The school has 600 students from more than 35 nations engaged in carrying out the vision of building healthy futures in greater Los Angeles, California, the nation and the world.
