Pets don’t make your children healthy -- The San Jose Mercury News on Aug. 7 featured a RAND study about the health of children with pets based on data from the California Health Interview Survey, administered by the Fielding School’s UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. The Redwood Times on Aug. 7 quoted Dr. Nadereh Pourat, Fielding School professor-in-residence and the director of ressearch at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, about an expected 33 percent premium increase faced by residents in many Northern California counties who have Covered California health plans.
