Anthony Hunter Schiff
Dr. Schiff is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and a transactional healthcare attorney. He teaches the Legal Environment of Health Services Management course. He is a principal in Schiff and Bernstein, A Professional Corporation, a Los Angeles health law firm. Dr. Schiff is admitted to the practice of law in both California (1977) and the District of Columbia (1979).
Dr. Schiff is a long standing proponent of patient centered care and has worked with collaborative partners to organize and represent Center of Excellence programs in cancer care, cardiology and orthopedics. His Firm also organizes and represents single specialty focus factory surgical programs in eye, hand and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Schiff worked at the White House in 1978 for the Special Assistant to the President for Health. In 1979, he opened his own law office and in 1981 joined the Century City firm of Diller & Freedman. Dr. Schiff founded Schiff and Bernstein, A Professional Corporation in 1984. The firm specializes in healthcare law and represents medical groups, physicians, IPAs and other medical organizations.
Dr. Schiff is a past president of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys and the co-founder and past chair of the Healthcare Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Dr. Schiff lectured annually on health law issues for UCLA Extension from 1982 to 1999. In January 1997, Dr. Schiff was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Health Policy and Management, Fielding School of Public Health. In 2006, Dr. Schiff was advanced to Adjunct Professor.
Dr. Schiff graduated from Lewis & Clark College (June 1974) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He then attended Southwestern University (Juris Doctorate degree, June 1977). He received his Masters of Public Health in Health Services and Hospital Administration (December 1978) at UCLA.
