Denise Moore

Denise grew up in Maryland and graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Sociology. After graduating she moved to New Orleans and worked at a nonprofit that was rebuilding houses post-Katrina, before moving on to a variety of admin jobs. Eventually she settled at the New Orleans Public Library, where she spent five years being amused by other people’s kids and living out her childhood fantasy of being surrounded by books all the time.

By the end of her fourteen years living in New Orleans she’d acquired a black lab named Mamie, developed a talent for writing and performing sketch comedy, and cultivated a taste for jambalaya (but never learned how to cook it). She moved to Los Angeles in 2021 to see what it’s like to live in a city that doesn’t get hurricanes.
