Gilda Noori
Gilda Noori, MD MPH is a Medical Director/Clinical Examiner with the MACS/ WISH Combined Cohort Study (MWCCS). She began her studies and research career at UCLA. From 2002-2006 Dr. Noori worked as a Health Science Specialist and later Project Manager for the many joint UCLA/VA research initiatives focused on palliative care. She obtained her master’s degree in public health with a thesis on HPV vaccine dissemination and community engagement. She continued in communicable disease research at the World Health Organization. Dr. Noori conducted Service Accessibility Mapping in Zambia, worked on WHO’s Study on Aging (SAGE) and provided support roles on UNAIDS research. During her time in Geneva, Dr. Noori also assisted Centre for Human Rights and provided data collection and statistical analysis along with translation of the Small Arms surveys done in Afghanistan. In 2012, Dr. Noori obtained her medical doctorate. After completing her MD, she continued to work abroad as a clinician. She returned to California to focus on an academic career. Dr. Noori was an academic advisor and clinical faculty at Kaplan Medical. She went on to teach Epidemiology of Disease and Global Health at the University of Southern California before returning to UCLA. Dr. Noori’s current interests continue to be in communicable disease research, international health, and global medicine. She is currently working on HIV studies focused on chronic disease outcomes of individuals living with HIV.
