Jennifer Wortham
Dr. Jennifer Wortham has served as a healthcare executive and consultant for over 25 years working with health plans, physician groups and world-class health care delivery systems. Dr. Wortham specializes in health system transformation, and she has lectured at several state and regional Hospital Association Meetings and internationally on the application of Lean, and methods for health system transformation and strategy execution.
Dr. Wortham's career highlights include serving as Managing Director for American Health Management, a boutique consulting firm providing marketing and business development services to Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, Rancho Los Amigos Hospital, and the Community Health Plan; Kaiser Permanente and Anthem Blue Cross. She served as the National Director of Transformation and Program Management Capability Development for Kaiser Permanente, and as the Executive Director of Consulting and PMO services for Kaiser Permanente Northern California Region.
In 2009, she founded the Institute for Performance Excellence (IPE), in collaboration with UCLA to provide quality and Lean leadership development, training and consulting services to healthcare organizations. The Institute was acquired by the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) in 2011, where she led consulting engagements and Lean transformation initiatives at Scripps Health, Kaiser Permanente, University of California San Diego, Eisenhower Health and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, among others.
She currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for University Preferred Health Partners, a clinically integrated network including Loma Linda University Health, Riverside University Health System, and Riverside Medical Clinic. Before joining UPHP, she served as the Vice President of Transformation for Eisenhower Health.
Dr. Wortham graduated from UCLA with a masters and a doctorate in public health. She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black-belt. She teaches graduate courses at the UCLA, Fielding School of Public Health. She is currently leading a multi-hospital study on nursing workflow in collaboration with Kaiser Permanente Southern California Region, UCLA, and HASC. She serves on the Board of Advisors for California State University, San Bernardino, and she was elected to serve on the Desert Healthcare District Board, which oversees the management of Desert Regional Medical Center.
