Sungwon Park

Dr. Sungwon Park, PhD, RN, COHN-S, FAAOHN, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and the UCLA Joe C. Wen School of Nursing. She is also a core faculty member in Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing at the Southern California Education and Research Center as well as an Associate Investigator at the UCLA site of the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation.

Her research focuses on improving worker health by examining how occupational environments and daily health behaviors influence metabolic health and chronic disease risk, particularly among middle-aged and older adults.

Drawing on more than seven years of clinical experience as an occupational health nurse in the hospitality industry, Dr. Park has developed a body of scholarship encompassing metabolic syndrome prevention and management, workplace health promotion, sedentary behavior, and physical activity. Her research integrates epidemiological approaches, accelerometer-based assessments of sedentary behavior and physical activity, biomarkers, and longitudinal data analysis to investigate how occupational characteristics and health behaviors shape metabolic health across diverse work settings, including remote and on-site environments.

Dr. Park was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses in 2026.
