Donna L. Washington, MPH '95
Dr. Donna Washington is a dedicated Professor of Medicine at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and UCLA Geffen School of Medicine. Her career has been characterized by her unwavering commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of vulnerable and underserved populations, with a special focus on racial and ethnic minorities, women, and economically disadvantaged Veterans. Dr. Washington directs the Health Equity-Quality Enhancement Research Initiative National Partnered Evaluation Center, which collaborates with VA’s Office of Health Equity to employ a population health approach in examining health, healthcare quality, experiences, and outcomes of diverse Veteran populations across the VA healthcare system. Her influential research and program evaluation studies have shaped the national organization and delivery of healthcare for women Veterans, advanced the understanding of racial and ethnic health disparities, and informed the implementation of VA’s equity-guided improvement strategy. Dr. Washington earned her MPH from the UCLA Fielding School in 1995 and continues to make a profound impact on healthcare equity and quality.
