Jean Balgrosky

Jean Balgrosky strives to improve public health and healthcare through innovation using health information technology.

As Founder of Bootstrap Incubation and General Partner of Bootstrap Venture Fund, a firm established to invest, mentor, and grow life science and information technology start-ups, Jean has overseen investment in more than 20 seed and early-stage companies. She serves as board member and CIO for MD Revolution and MintHealth and holds board positions with Perceivant, Sequoia Consulting Group and Doctible.

Prior to Bootstrap, Jean served for more than 20 years as CIO of large, complex healthcare organizations, including Scripps Health in San Diego, CA, and Trinity Health System (formerly Holy Cross Health System) in South Bend, IN. As CIO, she designed and implemented strategic IT plans and enterprise-wide systems portfolios, including electronic health records (EHRs), enterprise planning systems (ERPs) and business intelligence.

In addition to serving as a member of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health’s Board of Advisors, Jean also teaches graduate-level healthcare IT courses at the school, where she earned a PHD in Health Services.

Jean is the author of Essentials of Health Information Systems and Technology, a textbook used to teach graduate health and administration professionals about health information systems and technology.
