Kyle Horne, MPH '22

Kyle Horne, MPH, CNP, is the inaugural Sustainability Manager at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and Founder and Executive Director of Together! ACT Now, a creative public health organization expanding education and clinical access in rural Malawi.

Over the last decade at CHLA, Mr. Horne helped grow Literally Healing into the only reading program of its kind, providing half a million books to underserved children. He co-authored a COVID-19 children’s book that was voiced by Natalie Portman and helped publish Hi, Juicebox! with New York Times bestselling author Drew Daywalt to support children experiencing long-term hospitalization.

In 2024, Mr. Horne founded CHLA’s Sustainability Department and began developing its 2050 Decarbonization Roadmap to help make CHLA a leader in reducing healthcare’s environmental impact.

Mr. Horne founded Together! ACT Now in 2008. The organization now includes more than 200 local team members in Malawi who provide free, in-village HIV performing arts-based education and testing to hundreds of thousands of people. This innovative model has since expanded to address additional public health topics. He is dedicated to improving public health through creativity, communication, and social entrepreneurship. He also advises nonprofit startups around the world and speaks about how to make public health more engaging. He believes that people do not change simply because they are told something is important. They change when they experience why it matters.

Mr. Horne is a Certified Nonprofit Professional and serves on the UCLA Health Policy and Management Alumni Association Board. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of London in 2013 and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in 2022.

In 2026, Mr. Horne was inducted into the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health Hall of Fame and received the Emerging Professional Award.
