Lara Khouri

Lara Khouri is President and Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, responsible for overseeing operational performance across the CHLA enterprise. Khouri works alongside clinical and administrative leaders to develop and improve processes, procedures and systems while addressing patient care needs, patient and team member experience, and CHLA’s impact in the broader community.

Khouri also oversees strategy and transformation functions, including CHLA’s Ambulatory Operations; Center for Global Health; Government and Community Relations; Health System Development and Integration; Innovation; Marketing and Communications; Research Operations; Service Lines and Strategic Planning departments. Additionally, she champions physician alignment for the enterprise in close partnership with the academic department chairs and the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Medical Group. She also oversees hospital-based clinical services provided by the departments of Anesthesiology, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Radiology and Respiratory Therapy, as well as the enterprise support provided by the department of Information Services.

Lara Khouri is a trusted board member and advisor for several organizations. She serves as a member of the American Hospital Association Population and Community Health Advisory Committee, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health Department of Health Policy and Management Alumni Advisory Board, the Children’s Hospital Association COO Advisory Group, and the State of California’s Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) Children’s Services Advisory Group.

She was a member of the Board of the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House from 2018 to 2024; she was a member of the Board of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to 2019. She is also a member of Women in Health Administration of Southern California and was honored as the organization’s Woman of the Year in 2016.

She has served as an adjunct faculty member at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health since 2016 and joined the School’s Board of Advisors in 2025. In 2021, she was recognized with the Ira Alpert Service Award by the UCLA Health Policy and Management Alumni Association.

Before coming to CHLA, Khouri was executive director of the Boston Children’s Hospital Integrated Care Organization and senior director of Integrated Care at Boston Children’s Hospital. In both roles, she oversaw the implementation of accountable care delivery, including quality and cost performance measurement and improvement, as well as development and implementation of integrated care models and value-based payment models. Prior to her work in Boston, Khouri was the founding program director of the Healthy Weight Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Khouri earned her MBA and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University; she has undergraduate degrees in geography and economics from George Washington University.
