Department of Epidemiology | Seminar | Dr. Catherine Lesko

Dr. Catherine Lesko is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is the Director of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Core of the North American AIDS Cohort Collaboration On Research and Design, Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins HIV Clinical Cohort, Deputy Editor of the American Journal of Epidemiology, and a co-author of the 5th edition of Szklo & Nieto's Epidemiology: Beyond the Basics. Her research focuses on describing the health and long-term engagement in care of people with HIV and investigating the effects of different health behaviors and exposure on those outcomes. She has particular expertise in the development and application of epidemiological methods for the estimation of unbiased population parameters from imperfect and incomplete observational data. Among other things, her work has contributed methods for handling loss to follow-up, for better describing the HIV care continuum and clinical outcomes for people with HIV that reflect real-world patterns of engagement in care, and for transporting results from a study sample to a target population of interest.
