CNN interviewed Dr. Anne Rimoin, professor in the Department of Epidemiology and holder of the Gordon–Levin Endowed Chair in Infectious Diseases and Public Health, about the health effects of the Cyclospora parasite and cyclosporias, the gastrointestinal illness it can cause in people.

“This particular parasite is not something that has a high case fatality rate,” said Dr. Anne Rimoin, a professor at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. “You can have some very uncomfortable gastrointestinal symptoms associated with it, and you should definitely let your doctor know if you start to have those symptoms so that they can test for cyclosporiasis.”
