"COVID-19 cases are starting to rise again"


Dr. Anne Rimoin was interviewed by Spectrum News 1 about a rise in COVID-19 cases linked to the "EG.5" variant and staying up-to-date with vaccines.

Dr. Anne Rimoin, professor of epidemiology and the Gordon-Levin Endowed Chair in Infectious Diseases and Public Health at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, was interviewed by Spectrum News 1 regarding the rise in COVID-19 cases linked to the "EG.5" variant and staying up-to-date on vaccinations.

"Cases are starting to rise again," said Rimoin. "And if we have low rates of uptake for vaccines going forward, we may not be able to count on the immunity that we've had in the past and to really reduce cases of severe disease, hospitalizations, and deaths."
