NBC (KNBC-TV) interviewed Dr. Yoshira Ornelas Van Horne, assistant professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, about her research into water quality in the aftermath of a warehouse fire in Boyle Heights in 2026.
"The metals that we found and other contaminants, those would be a concern, particularly for anyone using the river downstream," said Yoshira Ornelas Van Horne, of the UCLA Fielding School. "You know, this does dump into the ocean.”
