Ozzie Martinez

Ozzie Martinez is a seasoned health care executive with over 20 years of experience in leadership roles. Since 2015, Ozzie serves as the Chief Administrative Officer where he oversees the strategic direction, operations, and performance of the Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center Service Area. Ozzie began his health care career at the Veterans Affairs Health System, where he served veterans and their families for over eight years. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002 leading the Southern California region in the development and implementation of the Proactive Office Encounter program. This innovative program leverages data and technology to proactively identify and address the health needs of Kaiser Permanente’s patients, resulting in improved quality, safety, and satisfaction. The program has been recognized nationally as a best practice and a cornerstone of Kaiser Permanente's clinical excellence and preventive care. In 2009, Ozzie joined Kaiser Permanente South Bay as the Vice President of Operations for the Clinical Support Service Line, where he was responsible for operations over ambulatory and hospital-based departments. Ozzie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Chapman University, a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has completed the Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University School of Business. He has been involved in many community organizations and fellowships throughout his career and was inducted into the Upsilon Phi Delta National Health Administrator Honor Society. In 2022, Ozzie received the Ira Alpert Service Award for his continued support as an Alumni of the Health Policy and Management Association at UCLA. In 2024, Ozzie was inducted into the UCLA Jonathan Fielding School of Public Health’s Hall of Fame for being a champion for care transformation, an advocate for cultural diversity and inclusion work, and his commitment to improving the overall health of the communities he serves.
