How to Apply

MPH, MS & PhD Degrees: GRE requirements for the MPH, MS and PhD degrees vary by department and can be found here. Applicants who wish to submit their GRE test scores for degrees or departments not requiring standardized test results may voluntarily do so.  In this case, applications with GRE scores will not be given greater weight than those that do not include scores.

MHA Degree: The GRE and/or GMAT are not required for the MHA program.

The application priority due date for Fall 2023 is December 1, 2022. Early applications are encouraged, to ensure timely receipt of all required documentation. Applications received after the December 1st deadline may be considered, but will have reduced opportunities for admission, financial support, and housing.  If you are applying after December 31, 2022 please check with the department to ensure that it is still accepting applications.  You can find departmental contact information at the bottom of the page here.

There are three sections to the application process: 1) the online application thru SOPHAS (the common application for public health schools), 2) the online UCLA Graduate Division application, and 3) materials sent directly to the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Please refer to the application checklist for specific details about each section.

Once all your application materials have been received and processed you will receive an e-mail notice from the Fielding School of Public Health’s Student Services Office that your application is complete and being forwarded to the department for review. If you are missing documents, you will be notified that your application is incomplete with a request for you to forward the necessary documents.

Please note, incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the department for review by the admissions committee.
