Black is the Edgar Berman Professor and Chair of the Department of International Health and director of the Institute for International Programs at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has been a leader in research and the development of evidence-based policy to reduce child deaths in the developing world resulting from infectious diseases and under-nutrition. Black received the 2010 Programme for Global Pediatric Research Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Child Health in honor of his research achievements.
