PBS affiliate WTTW-TV (Chicago) interviewed the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health's Dr. Nadereh Pourat, professor of health policy and management and associate director at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, on changes to asthma coverage by an Illinois-based insurer.

In a special issue of the American Journal of Public Health, guest editors Vickie M. Mays and Susan D. Cochran call for a reframing and redoubling of public mental health efforts.

Dr. Ninez Ponce -- professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at UCLA Fielding, and director of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research -- was honored by the CDC Foundation and the James F. and Sarah T. Fries Foundation.

“Without data equity, we will not achieve health equity.”

Anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies are widely known to have harmful impacts on mental health, but a new policy brief from the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research (CHPR) revealed large disparities in rates of serious psychological distress across immigrant subgroups in California.

High rates of food insecurity, hate incidents, and difficulties accessing health care were all at the forefront of issues that plagued Californians in 2022, according to the annual California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) data released today by FSPH's

More than half — or 55% — of California adults said they have received a positive COVID-19 test result: 46% used only a self-test kit, 27% received their positive result from both a self-test kit and testing site, and 26% from a clinic, hospital, lab or other test, according to May 2023 data released today by the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS).

While self-test kits have made it faster and more convenient to test for COVID-19, the results are not reported to health care providers or local public health departments, making case rates impossible to track.

Dr. Olivia Jung’s work in the field of healthcare management is informed by her interdisciplinary training in organizational behavior, general management, and health policy. Drawing on organizational theories, Dr. Jung studies ways to motivate, organize, and support innovating at the frontline (by patients and healthcare workers who are closest to care delivery and thus most familiar with what does and does not work).
