The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health celebrated 388 graduating students at the 2026 Commencement ceremony in Royce Hall on Friday, June 12.

Degrees were conferred by Dr. Ron Brookmeyer, dean of the UCLA Fielding School and a distinguished professor of biostatistics. In attendance to celebrate the graduates - which included 77 bachelor's degree students, 259 master's degree students, and 52 doctoral degree candidates - were family members, partners, friends, faculty, staff, students, and graduates.

"Although it is true that we face many challenges in the current public health landscape, some of which are both daunting and unprecedented, public health has a long history of rising to the occasion and successfully overcoming seemingly intractable problems," Brookmeyer said. "Our students are prepared to tackle challenges like infectious disease, wildfires, mental health problems, and climate change. Our world will be healthier and more equitable because of the individuals you will see walk across this stage today."

UCLA Chancellor Dr. Julio Frenk, who is also a distinguished professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at UCLA Fielding, delivered the 2026 commencement address and spoke to the graduating class about the power of public health as a discipline.

“I am fundamentally optimistic about the future of health because of what I see in this building today," Frenk said. "You recognize the power of public health, and today, you stand on the verge of taking this power into the world.”

After the ceremony, a reception was held for the graduates and their loved ones in front of UCLA’s Royce Hall.

Congratulations to the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health Class of 2026!
