Fielding School signs MOU with Sun Yat-sen University School of Public Health in China


The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health has formalized its research and training partnership with Sun Yat-sen University School of Public Health.

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH) has strengthened its longstanding research and training partnership with the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) School of Public Health in Guangzhou, China, by signing an official memorandum of understanding (MOU). The MOU was signed by SYSU School of Public Health Dean Yuantao Hao and FSPH Interim Dean Ron Brookmeyer in Guangzhou on December 17, 2019.

“This new memorandum of understanding with Sun Yat-sen University School of Public Health is a welcome opportunity to strengthen research and training opportunities. It will allow our schools to leverage shared resources and address critically important global public health challenges,” said Interim Dean Ron Brookmeyer.

The agreement was signed in a ceremony hosted by SYSU School of Public Health Dean Yuantao Hao and colleagues, and attended by Brookmeyer and Roger Detels, professor of epidemiology at the Fielding School. Dr. Detels is a 2016 recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Chinese Central Government to foreign experts who have made significant contributions to China’s economic and social progress.
