Healio interviewed Dr. Joann Elmore, professor in the UCLA Fielding Department,ent of Health Policy and Management and of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, about her research into the use of AI in breast cancer treatment.
“AI is being implemented at a rapid pace into health care in many different ways, and there’s a lot of enthusiasm,” (Elmore) told Healio. “There have been tens of thousands of studies developing AI tools, but there hasn’t been an adequate amount of studies to show how these potentially helpful AI support tools are actually working in real clinical practice. I am enthusiastic, but I feel that caution is needed.”
