KCBS-FM radio news in San Francisco interviewed Dr. Emily Hotez, an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management and autism researcher, about why more and more women and girls are receiving autism diagnoses.

“We know that compared to autistic males and non-autistic females, autistic females are half as likely to receive basic sexual and reproductive healthcare,” Hotez said. "They’ve increased rates of chronic medical and psychiatric conditions, they’re less likely to receive screenings for things like cervical cancer, (so) this issue is quite important."
