KCBS-TV interviewed Dr. Arturo Vargas Bustamante, professor in the Department of Health Policy Management, about the health risks to residents in the aftermath of the Boyle Heights food warehouse fire.
“When meat decomposes, it creates toxins that can definitely be a hazard,” said UCLA’s Dr. Arturo Vargas Bustamante. “One of the main hazards is the quality of air will be lessened, and it may be bad for a few months, perhaps, while the warehouse gets cleaned up.”
