NPR interviewed Dr. Arturo Vargas Bustamante, professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, about infant and maternal health for the "Morning Edition" program.

" ... Arturo Vargas Bustamante, director of faculty research at the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute, says maternal and infant health is already being affected by the debate over birthright citizenship and other immigration policies. 

' When you have fear and you stop going to the doctor, then in the future there are important consequences' of missing prenatal care, Bustamante says. ' Your children are more likely to suffer, for example, low birth weight, and this will ultimately have lifetime consequences.' "
