UCLA Fielding School of Public Health’s Prof. Michael Galper named to board of health foundation
Galper, professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, named to board of directors of UniHealth Foundation.
A UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor and alumni has been named to the board of directors of a foundation that has supported nonprofit, community-based hospitals and health organizations across California for more than two decades.
Prof. Michael Galper, professor in UCLA Fielding’s Department of Health Policy and Management and a UCLA alumni, will serve on the board of the Pasadena (CA)-based UniHealth Foundation, which supports projects to improve and sustain population and community health, healthcare delivery systems, and the healthcare workforce statewide, with a focus on southern California.
Galper, a retired CPA and specialist in public health finance and operations, is a retired partner of PwC’s Health Care Consulting Practice. During his tenure at PwC, he held leadership positions in global advisory tools and methods, west coast health practice, and national health insurance practice. He has worked with clients such as integrated health systems, managed care companies, hospitals, physician groups, and academic medical centers, assisting with financial and operational performance and regulatory compliance.
In addition to his new board appointment at UniHealth, Galper has previously served on the Board of Achievable Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), and Sycamores, a child and family mental health services organization. He earned his MPH from UCLA ('93) and BA in economics (‘81) from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
