W.K. Kellogg Foundation president and CEO La June Montgomery Tabron named UCLA Fielding School of Public Health 2020 virtual commencement celebration speaker
La June Montgomery Tabron, president and CEO of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF), will deliver the keynote address for the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health virtual commencement celebration on June 12, 2020.
Ms. Tabron leads the 90-year-old organization, one of the largest private philanthropies in the United States, and guides its wide-ranging efforts to support thriving children, working families and equitable communities. Community engagement, racial equity, and leadership—what she calls the organization’s “DNA”—are approaches embedded in WKKF’s work.
Ms. Tabron joined WKKF in 1987 and held positions of increasing responsibility until being named CEO and president of the foundation in 2014, when she became the first woman and African American to lead the foundation.
“Advancing the wellness of children, especially the most vulnerable, and promoting health equity and community collaboration are core to the work that Ms. Tabron leads at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation,” said Ron Brookmeyer, dean of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. “This work has always been vitally important; even more so now with the onset of COVID-19. I know that our students will benefit greatly from Ms. Tabron sharing her wisdom as they set out on their own paths of effecting positive change through public health.”
The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health virtual commencement celebration will be held on June 12 at 3:00 PM PDT and will be available for viewing on the Fielding School's website.
