An international team led by UCLA researchers has been awarded a $9 million grant to study links between exposure to pollutants, including certain pesticides, air pollution, and the increased risk of Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Michele Guindani, professor in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health’s Department of Biostatistics, will serve as interim chair of the department beginning on July 1, 2026.

The UCLA Center for LGBTQ+ Advocacy, Research & Health (C-LARAH), led by Dr. Matthew Mimiaga, professor and vice chair in UCLA Fielding’s Department of Epidemiology, held its annual research symposium recently at UCLA’s Mathias Botanical Garden.

Dr. Onyebuchi “Onyi” Arah, professor in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology for more than 15 years, will serve as interim chair of the department beginning July 1, 2026.
