Dr. Xi Zhu, PhD, is a Professor and the Paul Torrens Chair in Healthcare Management in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. Zhu received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on micro and macro organizational behaviors in healthcare delivery systems.

Dr. José J. Escarce, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Professor of Health Policy and Management in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, and Senior Natural Scientist at RAND. Dr. Escarce has published extensively on a variety of topics including physician behavior, medical technology adoption, racial and socioeconomic differences in health care, and the effects of market forces on access, costs, and quality of care.

Dr. Laura Erskine is a Professor of Health Policy and Management, Director of the MHA Program, and Director of the UCLA Center for Healthcare Management. Her teaching interests are in the area of organizational behavior, leadership, and decision making. She uses real world examples and situations, experiential activities, field-based cases, and simulations to help students develop their decision-making and problem solving skills, hone their communication and interpersonal skills, apply theories and the concepts, and further their critical thinking skills.

Isomi Miake-Lye is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, and a researcher at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. She has expertise in evidence synthesis, mixed methods research, implementation science, and organizational behavior. Her research focuses on how the organization of health systems affects the use of evidence and evidence-based practices. She is Associate Director of the VA Evidence Synthesis Program in West Los Angeles and teaches Program Evaluation courses at UCLA.

Dr. Elizabeth (Becky) Yano, PhD, MSPH is Adjunct Professor of Health Policy & Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine, and Director of the VA HSR&D Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. Trained in health care epidemiology, biostatistics and health policy at UCLA and RAND, Dr. Yano has over 30 years’ experience in health services research and program evaluation.

Dr. Jennifer Wortham has served as a healthcare executive and consultant for over 25 years working with health plans, physician groups and world-class health care delivery systems. Dr. Wortham specializes in health system transformation, and she has lectured at several state and regional Hospital Association Meetings and internationally on the application of Lean, and methods for health system transformation and strategy execution.
