Dr. Will Nicholas is a Senior Associate at the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities (CHCFC). He plays a leadership role on several of the Center’s signature initiatives, including Moving Health Care Upstream, and the Child Health System Transformation Initiative. He previously served as Co-Director of the UCLA Study Center for the National Children’s Study.  Prior to joining the CHCFC, Dr. Nicholas served for three years as Director of Research at the California Endowment. Prior to his appointment at The California Endowment, Nicholas spent six years as a Senior Research Analyst for First 5 L.A., Los Angeles County’s public trust for early childhood. He has also served as an Associate Policy Analyst for the Rand Corporation and as a Research Analyst for Los Angeles County’s Tobacco Control Program. Dr. Nicholas is currently serving as Board President at Connections for Children, a nonprofit child care resource and referral agency serving the Westside and South Bay Communities.

Dr. Nicholas’ policy and research interests are in children’s health, Latino immigrant health, and bridging the gap between research and practice through collaborative improvement and innovation.

 He received his BA in Spanish Literature from the UC Berkeley, his MA in Latin American Studies from UCLA, his MPH in Population and Family Health from UCLA, and his PhD in Public Health from Yale University.
