2025 UCLA Fielding Commencement

The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health celebrated 390 graduating students at the 2025 Commencement ceremony in Royce Hall on Friday, June 13. Degrees were conferred by Dr. Ron Brookmeyer, dean of the UCLA Fielding and a distinguished professor of biostatistics. In attendance to celebrate the graduates - which included 34 bachelor's degree students, 320 master's degree students, and 36 doctoral degree candidates - were family members, partners, friends, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

"We are living in a time of unprecedented challenges and uncertainties - threats to universities, to science, and to public health," Brookmeyer said. "What gives me hope are our students graduating today: the next generation of public health change makers. Our students are from around the world, and that makes our community stronger. They are prepared to tackle challenges like climate change, COVID and other infectious diseases, wildfires, and mental health crises in our communities. Our world will be healthier and more equitable because of the individuals who will walk across this stage today."

Dr. Jonathan Fielding, a distinguished professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at UCLA Fielding and of pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, delivered the 2025 commencement address and spoke to the graduating class about the greatest challenge facing public health today, including disinformation. “No matter what path you take in your public health careers, I urge you to make challenging disinformation among your top priorities," Fielding said. "You are rigorously educated. Now, use your education to seek the truth and share the truth.”

Co-presidents of UCLA Fielding's Public Health Student Association, Isabella Luong and Wendy Tran, and the Fielding School Undergraduate Student Ambassadors, Phoebe Kim and Madeline Mai, introduced the UCLA Fielding Student Pledge, which the graduating class stood and recited together, "As public health professionals and scholars, we hold sacred our duty to protect and promote the health of the public. This is our pledge.”
