Dr. Richard Jackson, professor emeritus of environmental health sciences, was recognized by the California Department of Public Health with the Beverlee A. Myers Award for Excellence in Public Health on April 22.

Research by team co-led by Dr. Alice Kuo, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health associate professor of health policy and management and of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, finds that autism, poverty and non-white race/ethnicity appear to increase rates of health concerns and care challenges, both individually and in combination.

A team led by Dr. Nadereh Pourat, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of health policy and management, has found that Medi-Cal patients with complex needs experienced improvements in some health-related outcomes with the Health Homes Program.

The Paul Torrens Chair in Healthcare Management at UCLA FSPH, which provides critical support for the teaching and research efforts of promising early-career UCLA Fielding School faculty members, was made possible by an outpouring of support from alumni whose careers have been significantly influenced by Dr. Paul Torrens, a professor emeritus and member of the school’s faculty since 1972.

Dr. Patricia Ganz, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health distinguished professor of health policy and management, chosen for 2022 class of fellows of the American Association for Cancer Research Academy.
