The Los Angeles Daily News interviewed Dr. Yifang Zhu, professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, about the health risks of fires at industrial facilities in urban areas.
“What makes this fire unique is the composition of these particles could be very different,” Yifang Zhu, a professor in the UCLA Department of Environmental Health Sciences, said. “There is a lot of construction materials, solar panels and electronics burning. The resulting smoke can be more toxic.”
