"Monkeypox and mental health"

The Los Angeles Blade reported comments by Dr. Matthew Mimiaga at a town hall about the monkeypox outbreak.

The Los Angeles Blade and the City of West Hollywood presented a townhall meeting on Wednesday, July 27 to address the community’s concerns, impart information, and answer questions.

Moderator for the event was KTLA journalist John Fenoglio who was joined by the world’s top Monkeypox epidemiologists and other community health experts as well as a patient who recently recovered from the disease.

“Among the various symptoms, muscle pain and headache were present in 50% of the study population, however more severe neurological complications (have) also been present,” Mimiaga said. “Existing mental health problems such as depression and anxiety can worsen.”
