Dr. Yifang Zhu, professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, was interviewed on NPR's "Science Friday" program about her research into the aftermath of the 2025 Los Angeles County wildfires.
“We collected air samples during the active fire period, and then went back again and took measurements when the fire was about halfway contained, and went out again to take air samples when the fire was completely put out,” said Yifang Zhu, professor of environmental health sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles. “The big surprise to us is how much higher some of the chemicals were inside homes, compared to outside, after the fires were over.”
Science Friday airs on 524 public radio stations throughout the United States.
