NPR interviewed Dr. Peter Katona, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of epidemiology, for the “Morning Edition” and “Air Talk” programs about the state of the pandemic response.
“Every time we get a new strain, it’s almost like getting a whole new virus and starting from scratch,” Katona said. “That’s the problem; we’re seeing, over and over again, reinfections. This is possibly the most contagious virus that we’ve ever seen.”
