"Federal court decision voids the U.S. national mask mandate"
MSNBC interviewed Dr. Anne Rimoin, UCLA Fielding School of Public Health professor of epidemiology and the Gordon-Levin Endowed Chair in Infectious Diseases and Public Health, about the health risks of a federal court decision to void the U.S. national mask mandate covering airlines and other public transportation.
The CDC’s masking mandate on public transportation is no more. Dr. Anne Rimoin weighs in on how the policy (or lack thereof) will affect the immunocompromised and public transit employees.
“It’s premature, and it isn’t giving people enough time to prepare for this,” Rimoin said. “This pandemic is not over, and we still do not know what this virus is going to do over time, we are seeing increasing cases right now, and we don’t have any indications of seasonality at this point; and we are very, very likely in the midst of a large surge that is going to continue over the next several weeks.”
