The UCLA Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH) recently formed a supplemental agreement with the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SAHZU) that symbolizes the collaborative commitment of both institutions to advancing research and training opportunities for students, faculty and researchers across the globe.
On May 7th, representatives signed a supplemental Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that follows an existing MOU between UCLA and Zhejiang University. The agreement between the institutions will facilitate short courses offered by FSPH faculty, continued onsite opportunities for graduate students and joint population and clinical research. FSPH’s Dean Jody Heymann and Professor Kefeng Ding , vice president of SAHZU, signed the agreement in a ceremony attended by FSPH’s Associate Dean for Research Zuo-Feng Zhang , Professor Zhao Hui Wu , president of Zhejiang University and other esteemed guests.
The first FSPH-SAHZU collaboration kicked off in 2012, which has allowed for a visiting graduate student program and has led to cancer-related faculty research collaborations. The MOU has also brought about cross-country learning through a series of web lectures addressing epidemiology study design and statistical analyses taught by Associate Dean Zuo-Feng Zhang and Professor Jian Yu Rao of FSPH and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
The signing of the MOU was immediately followed by a celebration with all attendees, including
Zhejiang University and SAHZU faculty and staff:
Professor Xinyang Hu, director of research at SAHZU
Professor Min Li, director of the Office of International Relations at Zhejiang University
Professor Kui Ren, director of the Institute of Cyber Security Research at Zhejiang University
Ms. Minjie Tian, manager of the SAHZU Office of International Relations
Mr. Jun Tong, program coordinator at the SAHZU Office of International Relations
Professor Ping Wang, vice chair of general surgery at SAHZU
Professor Zhao Hui Wu, president of Zhejiang University
Professor Zhiying Wu, vice president of SAHZU
Professor Wenli Xie, executive vice dean of the Science and Technology Academy at Zhejiang University
Dr. MingLi Yang, director of international affairs at SAHZU
Professor Wei Zhu, co-director of cardiovascular research at SAHZU
FSPH faculty:
